A New Thing Is Springing Forth
Sep 23, 2026“Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even put a road in the wilderness,
And rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:19 — Amplified Bible (AMP)
A New Season
Writing this feels a bit strange because, normally at this time of year, I am in the classroom teaching. This fall, I am not. I am a teacher at heart, and probably always will be, but I also have dreams and visions that now need my full focus. That is why I am writing a blog instead of preparing a class curriculum. That's my new thing.
Maybe you have a dream hidden inside your heart too, something that lights you up whenever you think about it. I love seeing that spark return when people dare to believe again, perhaps because that is where I find myself now after years of dreaming and praying.
Beyond the Familiar
The verse I started this blog with is not random, I recognize my story in Isaiah 43:19 while in this season of change. This fall, I not only stepped away from the familiar classroom and my role as a teacher, but also outside my comfort zone where safety and control was found. The plan has been on my desk for several years, and although God never promised that it would be easy, knowing that and living it are two different things. Guess what? It isn’t easy.
For years, I knew what came next as a teacher; here, everything is different, and the only way to learn is to do the work and keep showing up. Right now, it feels as though I am entering an entrepreneurial wilderness while taking bold steps of faith. Still, this is what it takes to work on my skills on my faith-journey, and I am determined to learn - also imperfectly.
From Ideas to Obedience
If you walk with me, you will soon discover that my desire is to see women not only live better, but live closer to Jesus. To be honest, that desire can sometimes leave me with a rather chaotic head, because I have so many ideas about how it might look like. My messy creativity is one thing, but turning an idea into action is another, because execution has a way of revealing what is happening beneath the surface. It brings us face to face with limiting beliefs, past hurts, and fears we may not even realize we carry. That is where I find myself now: meeting the unpolished parts of who I am, learning skills I do not yet have, and allowing God to work in me while I do the work in front of me. Quite a road, I must say, but on we go.
With God, there is always good news, and if we go back to the verse, Isaiah first spoke these words to people who knew loss, displacement and uncertainty. Familiar? Well, God was making a way where they could not see one and bringing water into dry places. The good news is that He is still the Provider, the Guide and the Creator. There is nothing wrong with remaining where you are when that is where God has called you to be; faithfulness is not always loud or adventurous. But if He is leading you forward, you can trust that He will be with you there too. He will highlight your path and bring you water.
A Road in the Wilderness
The wilderness may be where you feel uncertain or alone, yet this is often where God begins to make the road visible through clarity, open doors, or simply enough light for the next faithful step. The rivers He provides may come as refreshment, community, or unexpected provision, reminding us that even in unfamiliar places, He has not left us without direction or care.
While I am amazed by the way God has everything covered, my attention keeps returning to the opening words: Listen carefully. This is an invitation to pay attention, because God may already be at work before we understand what He is doing. Are we spiritually aware enough to recognize the first signs of something new?
If God says He can put a road in the wilderness, then no wilderness is beyond His ability to lead us through. If He says He can send rivers into the desert, then even a dry season is not beyond His reach.
Maybe you have felt as though you are walking alone through a desert, and feel displaced, overlooked or judged. Your days may feel barren, but God is not absent, so do not let yesterday become the only story you can see. Look again; something new may already be springing forth.
- What is your wilderness right now?
- Where might God be making a road for you?
- Are you aware of it?
This is a new season for me, and perhaps it is for you too. I may not know every turn in the road ahead, but I know the One who is making it. I am grateful to have you walking with me, and I hope we can keep our eyes open for the new thing God is already bringing forth as we take our next faithful steps together.
Blessings,
Anna
